Next: The `quiet' solar wind

The objectives of the present project require an intensive collaborative
effort of theory, observations, and numerical analysis. Hence, in the present
project, theoretical simulation results will be directly linked to
observational data for interpretation and analysis. Global
simulations of the solar wind from the photosphere up to 5 AU are
envisaged to provide a framework in which to interpret
simultaneous observations by different space probes. In parallel,
some interesting physical phenomena will be isolated and studied
profoundly. In this way, we will try to answer a few
well-identified questions regarding the basic physics of space
weather. Below, these questions are presented and motivated in the
framework of the above-mentioned specific objectives of this
project. The subdivision of the research programme in well-specified tasks
and the participation of the groups in the various tasks are described
in Sections 4.3.1 and 5.1.
