The region had a beta-gamma configuration on May 5 (Dai) and produced, besides a number of large C-flares, an M1.2 flare at 17:19 on May 5. GEOMAGNETIC ACTIVITY ------------------- The week started with high geomagnetic activity (Kp ~ 5) as a consequence of a high speed wind stream that had arrived the day before the start of the period (May 2). Solar wind speed gradually dropped from 700km/s in the beginning of the week down to 400 km/s at the end of the period. Meanwhile geogmagnetic activity decayed down to Kp=2-3 from May 4 PM onwards. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAILY INDICES DATE RC EISN 10CM Ak BKG M X 2010 May 03 045 028 80 022 A6.8 0 0 2010 May 04 /// 036 82 013 A7.3 0 0 2010 May 05 055 028 83 011 B1.0 1 0 2010 May 06 041 016 79 012 A7.1 0 0 2010 May 07 028 009 79 011 A6.5 0 0 2010 May 08 025 007 79 007 A7.8 0 0 2010 May 09 /// 000 75 003 A3.8 0 0 # RC : Sunspot index (Wolf Number) from Catania Observatory (Italy) # EISN : Estimated International Sunspot Number # 10cm : 10.7 cm radioflux (DRAO, Canada) # Ak : Ak Index Wingst (Germany) # BKG : Background GOES X-ray level (NOAA, USA) # M,X : Number of X-ray flares in M and X class, see below (NOAA, USA) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTICEABLE EVENTS DAY BEGIN MAX END LOC XRAY OP TENCM TYPE Cat NOAA NOTE 05 1713 1719 1722 N42W37 M1.2 SF 1069 well observed with PROBA2/LYRA #--------------------------------------------------------------------# # Solar Influences Data analysis Center - RWC Belgium # # Royal Observatory of Belgium # # Fax : 32 (0) 2 373 0 224 # # Tel.: 32 (0) 2 373 0 491 # # # # For more information, see http://www.sidc.be.
