A new active region, NOAA AR 1108 began its transit on the East limb of the Sun on September 16th and produced a C1.3 flare on Sept. 17th at 01:22 UT (peak time). No further significant flaring activity was observed until the end of the week. GEOMAGNETIC ACTIVITY -------------------- Geomagnetic activity remained at quiet levels during the whole week. There was a brief period of active conditions at planetary levels (Kp=4) on September 15th (0-3 UT) which might be due to the crossing of a sector boundary. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAILY INDICES DATE RC EISN 10CM Ak BKG M X 2010 Sep 13 048 017 80 003 B1.1 0 0 2010 Sep 14 031 016 81 012 B1.3 0 0 2010 Sep 15 /// 017 81 007 B1.8 0 0 2010 Sep 16 066 025 83 008 B1.9 0 0 2010 Sep 17 085 034 82 009 B1.5 0 0 2010 Sep 18 051 032 82 005 B1.4 0 0 2010 Sep 19 /// 029 81 003 B1.2 0 0 # RC : Sunspot index (Wolf Number) from Catania Observatory (Italy) # EISN : Estimated International Sunspot Number # 10cm : 10.7 cm radioflux (DRAO, Canada) # Ak : Ak Index Wingst (Germany) # BKG : Background GOES X-ray level (NOAA, USA) # M,X : Number of X-ray flares in M and X class, see below (NOAA, USA) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTICEABLE EVENTS DAY BEGIN MAX END LOC XRAY OP TENCM TYPE Cat NOAA NOTE #--------------------------------------------------------------------# # Solar Influences Data analysis Center - RWC Belgium # # Royal Observatory of Belgium # # Fax : 32 (0) 2 373 0 224 # # Tel.: 32 (0) 2 373 0 491 # # # # For more information, see http://www.sidc.be.
