The CME that left the Sun on Nov 4 triggered a severe geomagnetic
storm on Nov 6.
The estimated Kp index reached levels above 8. The IMF pointed strongly southwards for the first 3 hours of Nov 6, and according to this map, this gave a chance for some of the most northern european countries to see auroral displays.
Northern americans were in the front seat and saw auroras as far as Florida.
